The short version

We don’t automatically collect personally identifying information about visitors or set cookies. We may collect anonymised analytics information about your visit, explained below.

You can choose to provide your name and email address and other personally identifying information if you get in touch or make a donation. We won’t sell you data or use it for anything else, and we won’t share personally identifying data unless there’s a legal basis.

If you interact with social media or click links, those platforms and other providers, including your browser, may use your data in ways we can’t control.

Data we collect: analytics

This site is made and hosted in the UK.

When you visit our site, we will store: the website from which you visited us from, the parts of our site you visit, the date and duration of your visit, your anonymised IP address, information from the device (device type, operating system, screen resolution, language, country you are located in, and web browser type) you used during your visit, and more.

We process this usage data in Matomo Analytics for statistical purposes, to improve our site and to recognize and stop any misuse. Knowing how you use the site is really useful for deciding what kind of content to develop, but if you prefer to opt out, you can do so below.

Opt out

Opt-out complete; your visits to this website will not be recorded by the Web Analytics tool. Note that if you clear your cookies, delete the opt-out cookie, or if you change computers or Web browsers, you will need to perform the opt-out procedure again.

You may choose to prevent this website from aggregating and analyzing the actions you take here. Doing so will protect your privacy, but will also prevent the owner from learning from your actions and creating a better experience for you and other users.

Data you send us

If you contact us

  • By email: we collect and store your email address and message content for the purposes of replying to you or resolving your query, or for no longer than 6 months, whichever comes first.
  • On social media: we may be able to see details about your profile that you’ve made public, but we won’t collect, store or use this for anything other than judging how we interact or reply to you.

We won’t re-use your details for anything else, except where it pertains to letting you know about your data, for instance. We won’t share it with others unless there’s a legal basis for doing so.

Note that we have a zero tolerance policy to spam, abuse and fraudulent or malicious contact. We’ll process and share this kind of data as necessary to keep the site, staff and other users safe.

If you donate

We use Ko-fi and Paypal to accept donations. Those sites may share your details with us where they’re essential to processing donations safely and responsibly: for instance your username, full name and email address (but not banking details).

We have to record and store this information as required for tax and transaction purposes. We’d also like to acknowledge and say thanks for donations, but won’t use your details for anything other else.

Third-party links and social media

Please take care when clicking third-party links. This site can’t be held responsible for content hosted on other sites, or any damage caused as a result. If you follow links to social media platforms please note those platforms have their own privacy policies – make sure you’re comfortable with them.

Embedded content

Rarely, articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
